Battery Capacity Testing
Constant-current discharge testing to IEEE 450, 1106 and 1188 — the only method that measures real capacity.
Impedance and resistance testing is useful for trending, but only a constant-current discharge test measures the capacity a battery will actually deliver under load.
IEEE recommends load testing every 5 years for vented lead-acid and Ni-Cd stationary batteries and every 12 months for VRLA.
EDPN performs the test with its own DC load bank fleet — 48 V to 240 V, up to 300 A, with per-cell voltage monitoring during discharge — and issues a report with the discharge curve, per-cell behaviour, measured capacity against rated capacity, and the cells that should be replaced.
Because the equipment is EDPN's own and held in Vietnam, testing can be scheduled around your outage window rather than around an import.
